Whenever I click on any file using finder (in any directory on any disc, on board, via firewire or over network) the wheel starts spinning and it takes many minutes before displaying file details and allowing access to the file. Another possibly related problem is that FCP will not now open projects that have been opened many time before. i would be very grateful for any help as at the moment my business is at a a standstill. i am using an original G5 dual with OS X and the latest version of FCP.

I had the really slow finder problem befre and managed to fix it by using the prebinding command in terminal but that doesn’t seem to help this time.

Do you subcribe to the COW magazine? If not, sign up and read my article in the first issue on setting up a rock solid FCP station.

If you’ve not rebuilt that startup disk in a while. It’s time sounds like.
    Repaired permissions lately?
