The company I work for has it’s annual convention in July this year. We are shooting several small ad campaigns that will highlight smaller events for the upcoming year. One of them is a 30 second commercial where a gang of Ninjas attacks our Department Director while he is working.

We shot the video last Friday, but the editing is what is going to be tricky. In the ad, he falls asleep and the next shot is part of his dream. I need a transition that will let the audience know that he is entering dreamland (I already have a audio effect to go along with the transition).

The other thing I need is TONS of ninja sound effects. We didn’t even shoot any sound with the commercial.

If anybody knows of a good place where I can get either of those, or if anybody has shot a Ninja video and has any good editing advice, I’d love to hear it!!!

http://www.digitaljuice.com for the sound fx. they have an 11,000 cut sound fx library at a really good price. we have it here. full of all kinds of sfx that will serve your needs for the video.

also, look at soundtrack pro which has a lot of sfx built right in and you might be able to create some other sounds with it that you need.

of course, take an old stick and whip it around in front of microphone to get the “air whoosh” sounds yourself. heck, you can probably create just about all the sounds your self if you take a microphone outside and just play.

What sound effect are you using for the transition? I would suggest a visual transition that compliments the audio efx you want to use. You could always use the “classic” ripple effect… It really depends on the style and pacing of your cut.

Thanks. That worked out pretty well. I had to do a bit of keyframing, but the transition complimented the sound effect. (Bell Cascade 3 — in Soundtrack Pro’s Motion transitions)

    thanks again.

[michiel] “as for sound fx, I’d say go to your local video rental place and rent a couple of kung fu movies, then just record some fights and pick out individual samples. Ok it may not be legal exactly, but obviously no one will ever be able to prove whether or not you used a particular “swoosh” or “haaaaa-yaaaa!” from a particlar movie ;)”

To post something like this on a public forum is certainly not the way to give advice to people and not something we condone on the Creative Cow. Your suggestion is completely illegal and would violate copyright laws. If you want to give advice, give useful, legal advice.

No worries Walter, I would never do something like that, especially since this is a corporate shoot and we have a budget.

I agree that postings like that should be kept off of the Cow.
