Final output settings for standard DVD (assets in 1280 x 720p .H264 59.94 FPS)
Hi there,
I’m sorry to have to ask but believe me when I say I’ve searched every forum I can and Adobes help files! Its got to the point where I have started to confuse myself with all the available settings with what i’m trying to achieve.
First of all let me explain the set up. I have CS4 master collection.
I have made a 30 min short film and want to export to DVD so that i can start sending out to various competitions.
Before I imported all my video assets into premier pro I applied various effects within after effects.
My original source footage was 720p x 1280 .H264 at 59.94 FPS. When I applied the effects in after effects I rendered out in exactly the same settings as my original source footage as I thought it would be best to have them in HD if I ever want to burn to Blu-Ray.
I then set up my premier pro porject to the same settings as the source footage(.h264 720p x 1280 59.94 FPS) and created my sequence/film. I then added various sound fx and score elements in 5.1. Again I choose these settings because I thought it would be best to have it ready in the highest quality I can achieve in case I want to eventually burn to Blu-ray.
Heres were the confusion starts…
For the time being I just want to burn to DVD. In the export options I have tried several ways to do this. These include..
MPEG 2 PAL DV 25 FPS widescreen preset set to highest quality, with lower field
MPEG 2 DVD PAL 25 FPS progressive widescreen high quality set to highest quality….
believe me the list goes on, I think I’ve spent about 2 weeks now trying different variables and I still can’t seem to find one that works very well.
The main problem I’m having is that when I play back on a standard DVD player the frames seem Jumpy i.e. the frame rate isn’t great at all.
I only have the encoders that came with CS4. Surely I can get the finished article to play back better??
Can one of the Pro’s tell me the settings to use?
I read that premier handles converting frame rates when exporting very well hence why i left the assets the same as the source footage and set up my project for these settings.
Should I have converted the frame rate to my final output(25 fps) in after effects before I even entered Premier, would this help?
I’m really at a loss here guys/gals, can someone please shed some light on this very frustrating final bit.
