Final Cut to Premiere Pro keyboard editing
Hi community,
So here’s the issue: I’ve been cutting on Final Cut for years, and have gotten used to (and LOVE) how the software allows for pretty quick keyboard based editing, which is ideal since I prefer to cut on my laptop and move around alot.
Now I’ve got a project now that uses loads of After Effects compositions, and I love the simplicity of the whole Adobe Dynamic Link setup to move between After Effects and Premiere Pro. However, this requires the use of Premiere Pro.
And herein lies the issue: i would like Premiere Pro to have a similar keyboard based editing option like Final Cut, but it seems so unwieldy. In particular, aside from the fact that the default layout doesn’t even have shortcuts for moving between edit points (page UP and page DOWN aren’t on Mac laptops), I can’t find anything like Final Cut’s “add edit”, “cycle edit point”, and “trim edit point by X frames”. In FCP, you can select the cuts directly, and then cycle between a roll, trim, or ripple edit, and then add/remove frames from either the head of one clip or the tail of another, or move both simultaneously.
Any way to get this same kind of workflow in Premiere? In general, any advice on cutting with Premiere on a laptop to speed up the whole workflow? Thanks for your time and help. I appreciated all feedback. 🙂
