    Hello

I am in need of some emergency Final Cut tech advice – I have searched through FAQ on a few sites and have yet to resolve my problem.

I edited something on a Macbook with Final Cut Studio 5.1.2 and now I want to bring it back to my Imac desktop which has the last version of Final cut 5.0 from a Not For Resale version of Final Cut Studio which I received at a film festival. Apple told me when i called up that the Not For Resale version cannot be updated and that there was a way to do this with xml but that they could not help me because I do not have final cut apple care! crazy right so at this point I am looking for a kind soul to help me out.

I do not have access to 5.1 install discs for the Imac so I need a way of bringing the project off the macbook (5.1.2) back onto the Imac with 5.0.? Someone mentioned something to me about using XML export and import but I have no clue what that means – I have a deadline to finish this project and I want to be able to do this on a larger desktop environment that is my imac. Please anyone with any suggestions or advice contact me asap.

    Thank You Very Much

    Sean

Click on your project in the brower tab. Make sure nothing is highlighted in your main bin. Then export the project as an XML. It is in your pulldown menu under File/Export.

Make sure you see your entire project at the top of the dialog box.
    Check all the appropriate boxes.
You will be asked for a choice of 1-4 versions. Try the #1 version first.

After you get the XML, open up FCP in your IMac, then import the XML.

Save it as a new project or save it right into your current project.

    Good luck,m

    Jeff
