Final Cut Server?
Posted by Scott Willis on September 20, 2007 at 11:47 pmUntil yesterday – the Apple website listed Final Cut Server as being released “Summer 2007”. Given that fall is upon us – that note disappeared. Does anyone have an idea of a release date? Also, does anyone know if it will require a separate CPU?

Does it need a server? Well, it IS called Final Cut SERVER. That should be a clue.
Like most things, you can probably get it to work on a spare system, but for true useability it should be on a dedicated server.

September 21, 2007 at 6:48 amits on its way. no one here who has a firm date is likely to be in a position to tell. Apple have been out and about actively demoing and selling it to the volume users who can make most of it.

No clue on the release date. Nope, you don’t need a separate CPU.

yep, just saw that on the Apple site. Boy they were hyping the hell out of that at NAB too. Must be having a LOT of problems. We were thinking about incorporating that into our workflow recently. Glad we passed for the moment!
