If I make new presets with Motion 5 the problem is there again – when i remove them it’s all ok again. So – it has nothing to do with old presets from Motion 3 or 4. And it’s not an issue just for presets with 25 fps – I’ve tryed with 30 fps presets and the blue death is there again. It’s a serious bug.

    Hi Guys,

HELP! I am having the same problem (published template from Motion 5 to FCPX) and all it gives me is a blue screen for the generator and FCPX crashes out when I tried to play the new Generator.

I am new to FCPX and Motion 5. I was previously using Final Cut Express, so I have never used Motion 4 or previous versions.

I don’t even have the folders you listed. I have:
    – Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro
    – Library/Application Support/Final Cut Express Support

… so I don’t even have the Presets folder.

Within the Final Cut Pro folder, I have folders:
    – Library
    – Sample Media
    – Templates

Within the Final Cut Express Support folder, I have folders:
    – Custom Settings
    – Plugins

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    John

I have been having the same problem and have tried the solutions on this and threads on other blogs with no success. However, after some trial-and-error I finally came up with a solution. I logged in as a guest and copied the Motion Templates directory (with including all sub-folders), from the Movies directory onto an external thumb drive. i then logged into my main account and dragged this directory into the Movies directory of the main account. From the pop-up asking whether I wanted to overwrite the files, keep both or cancel, I chose overwrite. Once I opened Final Cut the contents of Titles, Generators and Themes had been re-populated and are all working again.

    I hope this helps.
