June 29, 2011 at 6:05 pmok, tried that and still no luck.
I have also downloaded motion 5.
If i right click on a faulty template and open it in motion 5…it works fine within motion 5. then if i save it, it appears as a copy in final cut pro but then is just a blue screen again?

July 1, 2011 at 11:20 amJohn,
I haven’t forgotten about this – merely busy.
If it works in a new user but not in yours, the problem is limited to, essentially, your user’s library.
Your HD/Users/JohnW/LibraryThere are two or three major items in there; the preferences, the application support and the caches.
The first play was for a couple of preferences – it could be a silly/dumb one that I’m not expecting (such as some QuickTime pref- but I doubt it’s that) that’s involved with the drawing of motion items. It could be a cache that wasn’t created correctly. And yes, it could be the famous ‘disk permissions.’
That’s at least where this leads. I’d have more but it’s a crazy day (considering it’s 7am now…and I’ll get a chance to breathe around 6pm tonight – and then there’s the 3 day weekend.)
I just wanted you to understand where my head was at since I’m not giving it my full attention.
Best,
Jeff G

July 1, 2011 at 4:30 pmTwo more things – one open your preference, sort by date modified and then look for anything that’s pro app specific.
One that I came across (that felt close) was com.apple.prokit.plist.

July 2, 2011 at 3:16 pmI too am having this problem on my MacPro. My laptop is fine but my MacPro is having this issue. I created a new user account but I would really like to use my main user account. I did a crash analyzer.
This is what it gave me.
User Interface Crash
This crash was caused when trying to draw or interact with a user interface element. A common cause for this crash is a corrupt or outdated version of the ProKit or BrowserKit frameworks, but in some cases it may be a Final Cut Pro bug that should be reported to Apple. Users sometimes get this error if they upgrade their OS without reinstalling Final Cut Studio or if their HIToolbox preferences are corrupt.
Suggested ActionsUse FCS Housekeeper to run a Comprehensive clean.
Make sure you have the latest versions of Final Cut Studio and related frameworks, particularly ProKit.
Trash preferences.
Report the bug to Apple.
As a last resort, consider reinstalling Final Cut Studio.

Report generated by Crash Analyzer in FCS Maintenance PackI can’t find com.apple.AppKit
and I have even done its suggestion of running FCS Housekeeper. Still no luck. IF someone figures it out please let me know
