It’s already there, FCP 6.0.3 added Log and Transfer for RED files. I believe you have to go to the RED site to get part of the tool, but RED support is already there.
Native RED file support in Color was shown at NAB and is on the way.

May 2, 2008 at 1:01 pmTransferring R3D files to ProRes in Log and Transfer is still “Beta”. It works as I used it last week very successfully, but for some reason it is still “Beta”.

I say this is because Sony and Apple did the same process on XDCAM when it gave support for it but not full support for all of its settings.

Yes, but that broke LiveType on many Mac Pro’s… so I’m not sure backwards progress should count… 🙂
