Hello I have just bought my 1st computer with a view to DV editing from my cannon xl1. The computer in question is the mac book pro.

I’ve just logged my 1st project and I got an error message when trying to capture it saying ” you may have specified a time code with insufficient for a pre/ post roll operation” am i being really stupid and missed something obvious here here? Or is this a bug in the system like what I’ve heard about using old final cut pro on new mac?

Hope you can help, have rather left this project to the last minute.

    Thanks

The XL1 needs to be “pre-rolled” to capture the footage. If my timecode I want to capture is 00:02:30:15 the tape needs to Pre-roll to 00:02:27:15 (minus 3 seconds) to capture the clip. You may have not given FCP the ability to preroll the tape by choosing a timecode to close to the beginning of the tape.

    Hope this helps-
