Hi guys, do you have any experience with using one of those keyboards with FCP that has the colored keys….to help me learn the shortcuts? Would you suggest something like that for a beginner? Any special brand that is better than another?

    Thanks for your time,

    -Dean

Dean, at the risk of coming across as just bitter and jaded, you know this question is asked and answered at least once or twice every couple of months and a quick search would answer your question a hundred times over.
That said, yes they are good for getting up to speed with shortcuts quickly but if you use one then you will almost undoubtedly become dependent on it. If you can guarantee you’ll always have access to one, then they are great … but if you envisage moving one from system to system and potentially finding yourself without one then you’d grind to a halt if and when you its not available to guide your fingers.
Favorites are Bella, LogicKeyboard (keycaps and full keyboard) and KB Covers (keyboard overlays)

Hi Andy, I did a search last night before I posted this and found a few items but it wasn’t much.

Today I picked up the newest Bella keyboard for FCP, the one that has the little lamp that you can plug into the keyboard that puts out a little light on the keys so you can see in subdued light. This was a great idea but the design is crap. Only one of my LED’s was working (comes with two) and the connection was loose and the light blinks on and off. Seems like a cheap piece of plastic crap. If it weren’t for the USB plugins on the keyboard, I would have taken it back to the store where I bought it. Because the keyboard has USB plugins on it, I pluged in my own USB powered LED lamp that I had purchased for my laptop and it worked perfectly.

Anywayz, thanks for taking the time to reply!

I too was unable to find the exact info. I’m glad this guy asked.
