very strange thing has been happening as of late. when i have my project set up, i have a mix of video captured from IO thru FCP and some graphics thrown in from AE (which were always at 59.94) i go and get my project rendered and nothing happens….what i see is a quick flash of the render window and then disappears. i keep on pressing command+R and nothing happens. the red line is still there in the timeline. but when i print to video, THEN the rendering starts…wtf?

i dont think i did something to the software other than upgrade it.. this started to happen yesterday and its continuing today after successive reboots.. this has been happening ever since i upgraded to 10.4.3 + FCP 5.0.3 could that be the issue?

i run on a dual 2ghz G5/6GBRAM/and plenty of disk space for the scratch disks..(still 14GB left on the render disk)
i have all the latest versions of FCP5 installed and communicate to the decks via an IO LD

    Try Option-R.

When you print to tape, all unrendered, or preview only, items are forced to create new media at the highest quality you have preset for your output. .

Command R only renders items that are selected in the Render Items menu or actually selected. That is, if you select one of the unrendered clips from AE, and then hit command-R, it will probably render.

Knowing what will render when you say RENDER is unnecessarily complicated. A major flaw in FCP’s interface, IMNSHO.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
