FCP isn’t the issue. You just need to make sure that the CONTROL PANEL for the IO, in the TIMECODE area, is set to read the timecode from the SDI connection, rather than the RS-422 connection, that it defaults to. I’d show you a picture, but since I don’t have the IO connected at this time (it’s in the home office), I don’t have all the options available.

Hye Shane.

I can see the timecode reading from the SDI connection.

That is the weird thing, when i look at the AJA Control Panel it’s there. But when i open my log & capture window, it does not display the timecode.

Could this possibly have anything to do with me upgrading the laptop from Mountain Lion to Mavericks?

That could be an issue, as FCP isn’t technically supported by Mavericks. I’ll have to test this when I get home. Although I don’t think I have anything that sends TC out through the SDI. The tape deck I have does it through RS-422.

What are you capturing from that has TC in the SDI?

Shane, i don’t know if this answers your last question, but i’m capturing from a feed that has been shared to EVS & AJA KIPRO devices. Direct source would be from the main switcher. This is for an MCP LIVE RECORDING setup.

I want to capture a particular camera ISO into the FCP using Aja IO.

How far are you from the source? There have been reported issues in the past with long runs and AJA devices – solved by dropping a DA in the line.

Are you using Capture Now? If so, FCP 7 will just pick up at 00:00:00:00. There is a Kluge solution for this.

Next question after that – have you called AJA to ask them?

If you are doing a Capture Now to FCP7, embedded time code will not come along for the ride.

Or you can modify the time code after capture to match the source.

There is a bit of distance from the source of the SDI cable. Haven’t tried dropping in DA.

Also, you were right about Capture Now. It doesn’t show realtime timecode, instead captures from 00:00:00:00.

By the way, how does dropping in DA help?

The distance is quite far from the source of the SDI cable. Also you were right about the Capture Now issue, it does only take from 00:00:00:00.

May i know how does dropping in the DA help?
