I’ve been having trouble with this horrible camcorder for two years now, and I curse myself for ever purchasing it. Final Cut could never understand the bastardized version of HDV the thing put out and I always got interlaced mixed with progressive, just a ‘slew’ of problems. I’ve heard that in the new upgrade codecs had been added and I thought that perhaps my problem could be solved by this update, since I don’t have it yet, I obviously cannot test it out, does anyone have any knowledge of the Canon HV 20 and know if the new Final Cut is able to handle it better than earlier versions?

    I have a HV20 and I haven’t had any problems with it.
I actually used it on a 26 episode, low budget, public broadcast television program and it worked great as an additional camera.
I did all of my work in HDV using the standard NTSC workflow.
I even did color correction to match a completely different camera and the process, though tedious, worked fine.
If you are playing around with the 24p mode, then I can not help you directly.
If you need more information, there is website dedicated to the HV20.

If you want to see some of the footage from the television show, go to https://www.allairebackfitness.com or ask your local PBS station to play Allaire Back Fitness Season 1.

yeah, up until a few weeks ago I’ve been using it as a DV camera as well, but I bought it for HDV and was sadly disappointed. about two weeks ago I fixed my problems, on the site you mentioned there is a thread dedicated to my problem. They explain that you must create a special workflow in Compressor and run all your footage through, it works great, you can also purchase Automatic Duck, which streamlines this process. I’m writing this in the hopes that anyone else having the same problem I had will be able to fix it.
