When working on an HD project with an aspect ratio of 1440 x 1080 and trying to compress it for web using h.264 at 480 x 270 the project crashes at about 88% every single time. any reason? my settings are so:

    h.264
    key framing = automatic
    frame reordering (checked)
    Restrict to 600 kb/p sec
    for download
    quality high

    Dimensions: 480 x 270
Preserve aspect ratio using letterbox (unchecked)
    Deinterlace Video (checked)

    Prepare for internet streaming (unchecked)

I’m experiencing a similar problem with H.264. My settings are quite different, but FCP crashes every time I set it to exceed a certain bitrate. Also, I’ve tried doing the encoding using Quicktime Pro and it also crashes, so I assume there’s some problem with the encoder that is shared by FCP and Quicktime Pro.

Is anyone else having these problems?
