yeah, i have monitored it from the deck and it’s in sync. anything else you can think of?

Well, in that case, everything is working fine. You’ll never get the Apple monitor to match your deck audio or the computer audio as long as you are using firewire. The best case solution for you is to monitor your video and audio from the deck OR get yourself a capture card that fits your needs.
