final cut pro 5 does not import dv or Dvcam material from Sony HDV
HI THERE
I AM WORKING WITH FINAL CUT PRO 5 ON A G4 POWERBOOK. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE SONY HVR Z1E HDV CAMERA. EVERYTHING WORKS FINE WHEN WORKING IN HDV ( SO FAR IN 1080 50i) Now today for the first time i tryed to import DV SP material and the program won’t import it. I changed the project settings to DV Pal and also in the camera to DV out but the programm does not see the footage. It controlls the camera. so i tryed it again in HDV and was no problem. Later i tryed in DVcam, but that did not work either.Any ideas?
Maybe because the footage was exported from Avid? Jealous Final Cut?shoot shoot shoot and don’t look back….

I would try recording some DV footage in the camera and then try importing to FCP. I’ve had no problem with DVCam material shot on a Z1u coming in to FCP 5.0 or 5.1x.
