  • Final Cut is altering the source movs.

I have some footage I captured from an HVX200a camera using onLocation. They are DVCPRO HD quicktime files.

They play fine in Quicktime when I open them at 1st. If I import them to a Final Cut Pro project, I get the warning “the following media files are not optimized….” I click OK and the mov works fine in FCP. Problem is, the source mov file has been changed! The .mov no longer displays a thumbnail or plays in Quicktime. Final Cut server no longer is able to recognize the codec (it could if I uploaded prior to opening in FCP).

Any suggestions? I hope to be able to use my DVCPRO HD movs without having to transcode them. Is there a way to stop Final Cut Pro from altering the source .mov?

    Thanks for your time.

[Jason Murray] “The .mov no longer displays a thumbnail or plays in Quicktime”
that sounds like a File Finder Info problem.
Run DiskWarrior, TechTools or Drive Wizar.
