Final Cut install claims I have 0 VRAM when I in fact have 256. What gives?
I’m running Snow Leopard 10.6.6
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB VRAMI was running a copy of final cut from my school perfectly fine for the past 4 years but just recently as I’ve started working in HD video, it began to lock up more often and eventually crash…
I closed down the program after one particularly intense session only to find that Final Cut felt my computer no longer held any VRAM. I would get this error message:
• Final Cut requires that your system have 128 MB of VRAM; this system has only 0 MB of VRAM.
• The installed graphics card does not support the OpenGL features recommended by Final Cut.I reset my PRAM by rebooting holding command, option, P, and R but to no avail. I uninstalled all of my Final Cut Studio assets and now the installer refuses to run making the same claim as before.
Am I missing something?
Also, might I be able to run a hardware diagnostic? I know the people at the genius bar have done it by holding a few keys down but I forgot what they were…
I greatly appreciate any help!

I’ve seen people talking about doing that but I’ve never figured out how to do it. I figured that by totally uninstalling FCP that would get rid of them.
Where are the preferences?

Digital Rebellion’s Preference Manager app (https://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/) can take care of trashing your FCP preferences for you, automatically. It also lets you create backups of your preference settings, so you can trash without worrying about really screwing something up. And it’s free!

Here’s the fix:
-Open Applications Folder
-Right Click FCP
-Browse Contents/Resources
