I have footage in Final Cut Pro that I have already keyed out the green screen in Final Cut Pro, and now need to bring into Motion. However when exporting as a Quicktime File the keyed out background becomes black in Motion, and when doing File > Send to Motion Project the footage comes in raw (pre chroma keyer filter). How do I preserve the transparency?

I’m not keen on your workflow for several reasons, primarily because it does not allow you to change any of the settings of your key to suit the background, which is often critical to creating a good comp.

If I were you, rather than exporting as a QT, I would either send to Motion from FCP, which would allow you continue to change any parameters of your key in FCP, or even better, forget the key in FCP and key in Motion.

If you’re dead set on exporting the QT, you have export as animation – millions of colors +, and you need to do that with the clip unrendered on the timeline to preserve the alpha channel.

i hope you can halp me with a problem that i got in motion. i keyed some greenscreen clips in fc. i brought it to motion and put all of them in the same projekt. everything went fine with bringing them all to smaller size and propper position.
when i try to animate the group of clips, they should move togehter as a group, then i get some rare stripes in every frame before the last keyframe. every frame thats past the last keyframe is in normal quality. when i export the clip i still get this things. i tryed out sevral things but i could not fix it. i hope you can help, i am glad for any advise…

    thanks, daniel
