    Hi,
I’ve just spent most of the day trying to fix what I can only describe as a problem within a riddle wrapped up in an enigma. This morning I took in a cut which the client wanted to grade and ‘jazz up’. I found something quite ethereal that the client loved with the Nattress plug-in “Basic Warm”, which I set to diffuse the whites and the blacks, and slightly changed the temperature. I then rendered the whole sequence, which luckily, was a 30 second promo spot. When rendered, the whole sequence turned green and had shifted horizontally across half the screen. When I then took off the diffusion and re-rendered it came good. Much to the dissapointment of the client who had to make a deadline.
    So,what’s with that?
I have my renders set to High Precision Y,u,v by the way.

    Quad 8Gb
    AJA Kona3
    RT extreme
    80TB X-San over fibre
    FCP 5.1.1

What is the sequence setting? Are you using Uncompressed? And I assume that you are editing SD video, am I correct?

Both 10bit rendering and high precision rendering in FCP are buggy, in that they can, from time to time, produce just such unexpected results. Whenever we find them, we try to fix things in our code, but it’s not always possible, depending on the nature of the work around.

Can you email me with details of which versions of plugins and FCP you’re using, and I’ll check things out for you.

    Hi Wayne,
sorry, should have said. Source material 625 DigiBeta, captured as AJA uncompressed 10bit. Sequence setting AJA uncompressed 10bit. When the footage was put on the timeline there was ne need to render so capture and sequence did match. I also have had problems with the diffusion plug-in, same sort of result really, green and horizontal shift.
