Hi all, in a few weeks time I will be filming a music video which consists of two types of footage. We are using a Panasonic AF 101 to film the video, however, we are partly going for the slow motion yet still lip synched look at 50fps (slowed down in post to 25fps) and normal speed footage at 25fps. The camera only films 50fps in 1080i and not in 1080p. What is the best way to film it, as we don’t have access to the camera to do test run until day of shoot and we don’t know if 1080i/50fps (converted to 25fps deinterlaced slowed down) will be the same quality as 1080p/25fps,

    Thanks, Simon

Based on the information you stated, you would be able to shoot 1080i/50fps then convert to 1080p/25fps. Most HD TV’s read progressive, but with interlace it will show the picture with two cycles and progressive will do it all in one cycle. Therefore the quality should not be a dramatic difference. The major difference will be the frames, which will create the effect you are trying accomplish.

I would assume once you complete shooting, you would probably do some effects in post production. In addition, you can enhance the minor quality concerns in post.

    I hope that helps.

You can use a converter to convert and deinterlace 1080i/50fps video to 1080p/25fps by using a Video Converter or MTS Converter(Panasonic AF100 recorded file is AVCHD .mts)

Are you Canon EOS C300 users? If so, do you want to get the MXF recordings to FCP 6/7 for further editing?
