film techniques
This post may not belong here as it regards video editing in general, although I do use Sony Vegas. In a thread just prior I asked a how-to question about an effect for which I did not even know the term, or name (pan & scan, or Ken Burns).
Do you folks have a favorite must-have reference that discusses techniques such as that one? I am not talking about a list of the canned “effects” (swipes,fades and dissolves, etc.)–I can explore what they look like for myself in SV. I have seen (linear, I guess) film techniques in movies all my life and wish I had a book that would jog my memory of them, give them a name, and point toward the general way in which they are produced in NLE. I know I’m not going to find one book that covers the entire world of film making (or should I say, moving-image making?), but perhaps you know of one that would be good for a beginner.
Maybe I need another college degree?
