Film style fade to and from black?
In Premiere and After Effects it’s easy to make a fade from and to black by keyframing two values in the levels filter. Since the color corrector in FCPX is not keyframeable and there’s no levels filter, I was wondering if anybody here has a specific method to achieve this. Keyframing opacity obviously doesn’t achieve anything close to a cinematic fade.

Use the standard dissolve and change the fade type in the info panel.
