  • Film Dialogue track – confused or thinking to hard

    Hi all,

I’ve been working on a low budget feature since the dawn of time and I’m about to deliver the A&E tracks and then I thought about something and this is the question.

Are the sounds made by an actor eg. coughing, panting etc considered part of the dialogue track or an effects track ?

Can be both! If the sound is made be the actor at the time
of shooting, that’s part of the dialogue. However, if a sound
is placed in post (during editing), to give the impression that
the actor made that sound, that’s an effect…….(Just my 2 cents)

Thanks Steve. I think I’m probably over thinking the whole situation and I should take your approach which is what I had intended to do.

    Cheers,

Yes, you are over thinking it. Vegas doesn’t care what you call the audio track. BTW – in feature films the spoken dialogue is in mono while SFX and musid are in stereo or 5.1 multichannel.
