I have a layer that is the shape of us map with alpha. I have a comp of even space grid of different squares items. I want to use the alpha of the US map to show the boxes but not cut off the last boxes that meet the alpha outline.
So it ends up with kind of in the shape of the map.
    Does that make since?
    Any help would be apreciated

    Hi

If you mean that the map is only to be made up of complete squares I think that will require lots of decisions about which to leave in and which to take out so that legibility and good looks are maximised.

I do not know of anyway to automate this and if you want to be in control of the detail I think you probably need to artwork the edges carefully by hand so that it looks good.

I would do this in either illustrator or photoshop by overlaying a transparent map as a guide and selectively deleting squares by hand.

Also might be worth checking on the net to see if this already exists somewhere…….
