Fill Light and Recovery without Camera Raw
Hi,
I have got an image with a lot of very bright areas and very dark areas, but very low mid-tone contrast. Actually it is not an image at all, but a movie. It’s shot on video and could really use a contrast boost. Yet it is basically badly lit people in front of a white wall.
If I were in Camera Raw, I would probably try using a lot or “Recovery” and “Fill Light” to bring the large bright (walls) and dark areas (faces) closer together and then increase the overall contrast. That way the faces would be no darker than before and the walls would be no brighter, but still the mid-tone contrast would be higher.
Unfortunately, since this is a movie (QuickTime file) I can’t use Camera Raw. I have tried to achieve the same effect using curves, which did not work very well. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel
