    Clip properties/render time question

Canon hv40 HDV tapes captured/copied on
Ki pro to apple pro res 422 imported to FCP dragged to timeline set to ‘match clip’.

    OSX 10.5.8; MacBookPro4,1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz

    FCP 6.0.6

My problems began when I felt that all renders were taking too long.

When I look at clip properties in browser

    I see

    Vid rate 29.97 fps

    FRAME Size: 1920 x 1080

    Apple pro res 422

    Pixel aspect: square

    Field dominance: upper (odd)

The image looks fine but when I check clips from previous projects captured to apple pro res 422 in fcp directly the

    Frame size is 1440 x 1080
    and
    pixel aspect is (HD) 1440×1080

Did I choose the wrong setting on the ki pro when I captured the HDV tapes on the Ki Pro?

Does it matter at this point?

The image looks fine to my eyes.

Would these properties account for the long renders?

If I need to recapture tapes, what setting should I chose on the Ki Pro?

This sounds like your Sequence Settings are not set to match your clip properties; Ki Pro only produces full raster video so it would not produce 1440×1080 thin raster, but 1920×1080. Set your sequence to match your clips to resolve the rendering.

Well I’m glad that I didn’t mess up the Ki Pro capture.

    Are square pixels correct?

I think my clips and sequence setting match. Here’s the properties:

    OSX 10.5.8; MacBookPro4,1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz
; Camcorders: Sony Z7U, Canon HV30/40, Sony vx2000/PD170; FCP certified; write professionally for a variety of media; teach video production in L.A.

Yes, square pixels is correct for full raster HD material. There appears to be a mismatch between your clip and sequence audio properties. You may want to contact AJA Technical Support if you need assistance with your Final Cut Pro settings.
