File previews OK in Bridge (and LMS) but AI freezes every time I try to open.
Hello,
I’m trying to grade an Illustrator file sent to me by a student. It previews fine on Canvas, our institute’s Learning Management Software (LMS), as well as when I look at it using Bridge. When I try to open it using Illustrator the software freezes. I’ve tried two different computers, one with the current version of Illustrator and one with the version before the most recent major update. Both get the same results. I’ve even had the student resave it as a different file and send it in again. No change.
The class is remote so I’m limited in how I can access it but, if it comes down to it, I might be able to have them open it up for me on their computer over Zoom so I can check off the requirements for the assignment’s rubric, so if no one can solve this I’m not completely out of luck.

Hello Jack!
I was able to open the file on the version of Illustrator that I happen to have going, 2020. It does warn me that the file is using a font not available on my computer, “BatmanForeverAlternate”, but other than that it’s fine.
How much memory are you working with?
