  • Fields per frame changing during clip?

I have some footage taken with a Sony hdr xr520ve at 25 frames per second interlaced (HD). When importing this into Sony Vegas, I noticed something interesting. Halfway the clip, a change occurs in the number of fields per frame. The clip starts at two fields per frame, and halfway changes to one field per frame.

I’ve confirmed this in 2 ways

    1) Drop movie in timeline – choose ‘project settings’, disable interlacing filter and step through the frames fullscreen. Halfway the interlacing lines disappear
    2) Drop movie in timeline – choose 50p with interpolate and step through the frames fullscreen. Halfway a new frame is only shown every two steps.

I’ve searched the internet trying to figure out what is going on here, but found no question coming even close. So I hope there is somebody in the Creative Cow community who can explain this odd behavior to me.

Personally ive never looked that deeply into the process
you just described….. But is it posing a problem with
    your final edits?

It is ever so slightly visible in the final edit, but what bothers me most is that I do not understand what is happening. I’m an amateur and Google is my friend but with movie editing, whenever I find something a bit deeper than the standard questions, it seems like the informations is hidden. Which is why I came here, hoping there are some pro’s around that can help
