fields issues
Hi guys,
don’t know if i’m in the right part of the forum, but since i use Final Cut i thought it was…
so, my doubt is about fields and all the issues related to it. I’m working as a post-prod technician for almost a year, so i don’t have a great experience.
i’m working on a DV-PAL lower fields timeline in FCP, but i had some problems with some files i had to insert that are shot in progressive (none fields). The problems is that in the timeline (during playback, making a movie and even on DVD) these files looks broken (obviously).
i duplicated the timeline and changed it with none fields. and it seems to me that this way the whole timeline (interlaced and progressive part) looks ok during playback, in a movie and on DVD as well.
Actually the only big difference i can see is while playing the DVD on the television, ’cause everything seems has been shot in progressive (and this makes sense to me), but i can’t really see any kind of loss of quality, artifacts or whatever.
i’m sure this is not the best way to work on this, but i can’t really see the negative effects of this…i mean, the interlaced footage shouldn’t be affected in a bad way? (as the progressive one was affected by the lower fields timeline?).
any help, suggestion, explanation would be really appreciate!Michele Stocco
