Don’t know if this is a glitch, or a dumb question… but, all of my progressive footage is showing up with an upper field dominance in the FCP bin. So I don’t know when I export if I’m actually getting a progressive file or not.

I shoot on a 5D and, the current footage anyway, had been transcoded using MPEG streamclip… at first I thought I missed the clicking off the “interlace” button, but that wasn’t the issue. So I checked out a raw h264 file from the camera and it showed up with an upper field dominance as well. Now, maybe I’m missing something about the 5D metadata, but I thought it shot true progressive.

    Any help?

    what frame rate?

have you externally monitored the footage yet to see if it’s causing a problem?

its 29.97… its seemingly fine everywhere. Causing no problems. I slowed down some fast movement, looks progressive (ghosting, fields)… so, its probably fine, just kinda bothers me that it reads it as upper. Not sure if that’s going to affect my compression settings
