September 27, 2006 at 7:13 pmNice look and concept, but what’s inside the hole isn’t much of a payoff.
I think the shot could be more “fantastic” … this shot could have been done by cutting a hole in green paper, with a real city on the other side. Maybe that’s how it was done, but I’d like to see something more “impossible”. Bigger hole, unreal scene on the other side …?my 2 cents,

September 27, 2006 at 7:23 pmInteresting idea, though the excessive light bleed (Shine is a nice effect, isn’t it?) ;o) makes it hard to see the details. The eyedropper also looks somewhat flat (as do the drops). Anyway, still a nice concept.

September 27, 2006 at 10:11 pmThx for the constructive comments guys.
Really, really appreciate it. I liked your idea on the irrealistic background, although the pict behind was New York city seen from far above, I just wanted to show the water near the island.
Thx for the tips, any other suggestions are welcome.

September 28, 2006 at 4:19 pmI don’t get it.
Please don’t ever reply to my posts.
Yes I’m serious. I’m sure plenty people on COW would have been very happy to have a great developped response from you (we all know you have a lot of time on your hands) instead of editing my pict, wich is supposed to be a boring and unnecessary joke?!
Still, thx for helping here on COW, I know you’re a great person.
Have a nice day.

It was a joke, man. The idea of a big green reptilean eye staring back at you.
I laughed, but maybe it doesn’t translate across language barriers or cultures.
I know it was not intended to be offensive.

September 28, 2006 at 5:19 pmWell, thx a lot yikes, I hope that was true. I know you’re a good guy, you make the best you can to help people here and I really really considerate that. I’d give you a medal for that, believe me.
But I don’t think I’m the “bad guy” in this case.
I mean, when you show your creations to others, there’s two things you don’t want to hear/read; negative criticismes and people who are making funny of your creations. Of course, there will always be negative criticismes, because we all know that it’s impossible to make everyone happy. But, as for making fun of other’s creations, I refer this as intimidation. You make a joke, a joke is funny, so it’s making fun of my pict’, right?
I knew this was a joke. I’m 18 and mature and I laugh more then I breath in a day. So, all is well if that meant something, ’cause I didn’t get it in the first part.
I just wanted other’s opinions, ’cause I don’t show my stuff to a lot of people and I needed the the most positive feedbacks I could get, ’cause they are the ones who encourages me to continue in what I do. I didn’t want others to make funny of my picture. I’m darn serious about my creations. That was the last time I post something like this on COW.
Anyway, to me…that was just…just unnecessary.
Cya.

I really hate to be harsh with you but if this is all it takes to quell your enthusiasm and cause you to want to hide your work, then you need to get out of this industry now. You will never make it. Art and the creative process is so personal that it will always elicit a critique and people will sometimes see humour in something that are dead serious about. This is part of what you have to learn to deal with as a creative person. If you are such that a reptilean eye placed in one of your works debilitates you like this, then I would humbly ask you to take a strong look inside and ask if you really have the inner strength to make this your profession???
I am sorry if this seems cruel, it is not intended to be. It is just that this industry is a “heater” and if you cannot take this kind of heat, then what is going to happen when you get some real criticism?
In the true interest of getting you to think about things realistically,
Ron Lindeboom
(who is truly sorry if this hurts your feelings but it does need to be said if you are going to stand a chance in this industry) -

September 28, 2006 at 5:42 pmActually, I didn’t think he was poking fun at your shot, but that he was just showing what could be added to the shot in a whimsical way. If you thought that the shot was perfect and untouchable, Justin, why did you ask for opinions as to how it could be improved?
Be in love with the process of creating art, not the product that you create. If you’re in love with the product, you’ll never improve.
Just my opinion.
