So with all these HD format carrying many more channels than SD – in my case 8 channels. The Viewer’s video tab really needs better controls over which channels we can mute or solo. I hate having to turn down the levels tab by tab! it’s such a drag to have to do it this way.

How about a quick mute/solo control in the viewer? And even better if we can stereo pair/link the channels from within the viewer as well.

Unless there’s already a way to do this which I didn’t know about – but I’m pretty sure it’s not an option.

Have the mixer open. When you are in the VIEWER, the mixer shows you the VIEWERS audio levels.

CHL- I agree totally. I remember the old Media 100 had a check box on what audio channels you wanted to send to the timeline. One of the few things I’ve missed since going FCP.

FCP has that too…you don’t need to send all audio channels to the timeline. Unconnect the tabs you don’t want.

MUTE buttons for the VIEWER audio accessable on the timeline are what I want. That is an Avid feature.

Shane – the audio mixer is a good workaround. Good thinking. Like you, I’d prefer a better way to select which viewer channel to monitor.

I’d be way cool to see the waveform in the video tab as well – above the scrub bar! I currently rip the video tab away from the viewer so I can watch the video in one window and still see the waveform in another window. Thankfully, they both update in this configuration.
