    hi,

i am trying to create a mask where 3 sides are feathered and one side is not. is this possible? what i am trying to do is unmask some lines so that they look as if the are flying around a scene.i want the head of the line to be harsh and not feathered, but the other 2 sides and the tail to have feathering of around 70%. so that it looks as if it is leaving a trail which fades away. from what i have seen it is not possible to have different feathering values on 1 single mask. is this the case?

if anyone can help me with this or offer some advice or guidance i’d appreciate it.

    thanks in advance

    Yes. No you can not.
Trapcode 3d Stroke or make the line out of two layers one masked and feathered or a vector blur and one with out. position and move then about as a pair.

You could also try the Silhouette roto plugin.

    hi,

thanks for all your responses. i will take a look at the plug ins you suggested. i have tried using two masks, one feathered, one not, and it kinda works but i want the feathered trail to be quite long and it doesn’t really work….

    thanks again
