I have a client with a MacBook Pro laptop that will be logging some 109 hours of a documentary shot in HDV. She will be using FCS2 along with a yet to be purchased Sony HVR-M25U. Is there still a huge delay (if I remember correctly 2-4 seconds) between the deck and FCP connected via firewire only? I’ve used an M10U before and it was a real pain logging when the audio lagged behind the video so much and will really mess up the client. Since firewire is the only option with her MacBook Pro, any suggestions on how to make this easier for her?

    There is with the M15U.

I think if you switch the deck to downconvert to DV and log that way it will remove the lag but I can’t remember for sure. If I think about it Monday, I’ll check that in the office.

You can also simply feed the video / audio from the back of the machine into something like a Canopus ADVC-100 to convert it to DV for sync’d audio and video if the deck itself won’t do it cleanly.
