  • FCS 3 upgrade from 2 on Lion or drivers for snow leopard on new iMac i7

purchased a new iMac quad with i7 proc. Firmware is different so I can’t install my Final Cut Studio 2 software and then subsequent FCS3 upgrade. I would be happy to install Snow Leopard but tried that and evidently I don’t have the drivers. Does anyone have any work arounds for this? Tried partitioning. that won’t work. Tried migrating from another computer. Does a Snow Leopard disc image with modified drivers exist out there? – Brian

Why do you need to install the FCP Studio 2 version at all? You should be able to use the ugrade FCP Studio 3 version, which will install on Lion, it will first ask you for the FCP 3 serial number, then it will say thats an upgrade enter the serial from the product you are upgrading from.
Type in your original FCP 2 serial and away you go.

Upgrade installs are the FULL install. The only difference is the serial number…it requires a previous full version number in order to install.

Don’t install previous versions then the upgrade. Just install the latest…have that FCS2 serial number handy.

Yep its true – have done it many times including 2 Lion installs, clean installs are better in any case.

You just need both serials handy.
