    Hi all,

I just shot 20 short intros for :30 spots on HVX200 8G cards 720p 24. Obviously, we did several takes on each. When I imported them into FCP 6.01 with the log/transfer tool in the “name” field I simply put a 1 for the first, 2 for the second, etc. In the “take” i put 1,2,3 etc.

When FCP imported them it changed the “name” to 1,2,3,4,5 etc. in other words, instead of having 5 takes of each of 1,2,3etc. I had in the “name” column 1-100 or so. FCP completely ignored the name I put in the “name” column of the log/transfer window. I also tried “Intro1, Intro 2, etc. thinking that the number only might screw with it. That did not work either.

IFIRC, I had done this with FCP 5.x all the time. Am I missing something, or just not remembering correctly?

    TIA,

    Peter

Wouldn’t that have caused a lot of files with the same exact name- bit of a no-no. Don’t forget you can change the take/reel/etc information too and re-sort the browser. It’s best to leave the original P2 file names intact to make it easier should you ever need to re-import from the original folders.

    Noah,

I would have all of “scene 1” for instance ideally named the same, since they were the same shot just different takes. These are 10 sec. intros and not much diff between them except expressions of actor.

I thought I did this many times in 5.x and had no problem with the “Import P2 info” window there. It just seems that the new “log & transfer” window doesn’t like to have the “exact” same name for a file in the browser, it goes ahead and renames them successively.

I thought that was what the “take” and “log note” column was for. Guess I’ll just have to put a -1 -2 -3 etc. after each shot that is the same. Any idea if i can change the “global” prefs for import of audio? I only use ch 1&2 and the default is 1,2,3,4 so i have to uncheck 3&4 on every clip. Selecting all the ones to import and then unchecking 3&4 doesn’t seem to work.

    Thanks for your reply,

    Peter
