  • FCPX XML to DaVinci 10 – Difficulty with remote clip (through edit) recognition

Posted by Sascha Engel on October 27, 2014 at 4:11 pm

    Hi,

I exported an XML from a 3 Cam Multi Cam edit (FCPX 10.0.9).
After I imported the XMLto DaVinci 10. All the edits came in fine, no problems.
But all the edits refer to 3 Cameras (1 Total and 2 CUs).
Unfortunately, it does not give me the red little symbol that indicates the through edit connection to the Masterclip.
Any idea why and how it’s possible to “remind” DaVinci to the link?

    Greetings,

    [Sascha Engel] “Any idea why”

First guess would be that the multicamera sequence is being handled in a similar fashion to the import strategy that would be applied to either a completed export movie that would be marked out with either SceneDetect or an EDL. Even though the master is a single clip, the way the events are represented in the Resolve timeline are as independent clips. There is no way of “joining through” any of the clips in a SceneDetect import, either.

Yes, but the weird thing is, that I had the automatic import Media to Media Pool box checked and it did import only the 3 entire takes, it did not chop it up in bits and pieces, so why does it not see them as whole clips then?

Is your timeline in “remote” or “local” mode?

I think what you need to do is uncheck us local grades and check the match media pool to master timeline options, before import and conform. Also make sure your clips aren’t being treated as subclips or compound clips.

Thanx, that was the problem, unlike 9, DaVinci 10 is auto set to Local Version. Thanx!
