    Hi All,

I have a timeline sequence that was worked up in Adobe Premiere CS6. We’re moving a bunch of stuff over and I want to bring that project into FCPX.

I’ve exported an XML and used 7toX to convert the file to an FCPXML. Once I import into FCPX, I see all the media in place. Yet no timeline at all that was present in the CS6 project. Is there a step that I’m missing?

7toX loads everything in to the Event.

You should see a keyword collection called “FCP7 sequences” which will have a compound clip for every sequence.

You then make a new Project and copy/paste that to the new Project.

Odd. Not there at all. It has crashed on import the last time. Maybe something went wrong. I’ll redo it, and hope for the best

Any keyword collection with ‘sequence’ in it?

    Joe,

You should realize that PPro has integrated the old FCP XMEML interpretation in the app (more or less) and since it works (more or less) like FCP it’s somehow “easy”.

Phillip’s 7toX needs to convert from one kind of system to a totally different kind of system using the FCPXML “language”. 7ToX has a global approach to do the very best to translate (and it does well) but finally not every “sentence” can be translated from one language to the other.
So give it a try by eliminating tracks or filters and rebuild the things in FCPX.

I just did a test of a Pr Cs6 XML export, passed through 7toX.

There was still a keyword collection called “FCP7 sequences”.

Thanks for checking. Mine is crashing on the FCPX import. Once I reload the event is there, but no keyword. So I’m assuming something in the CS6 project is bothering it.

I’ll look at quickly finishing the sequence in CS6 then start fresh on FCPX possibly.

[Joe Lloyd] “I’ll look at quickly finishing the sequence in CS6 then start fresh on FCPX possibly.”

Or follow the advice of Andreas and simplify the Pr project before exporting.

Pr also handles a lot of formats differently than FCPX, so if your’e using any native MXF/AVCHD/P2 etc, it might be what is crashing FCPX.
