FCPX vs Catalyst Browse issue

February 16, 2023 at 7:50 pmI’ve recently purchased the Sony ZV E10 camera. Sony has horrible video stabilization. While the stabilization in FCPX is pretty darned good, Catalyst Browse does a great job of stabilizing the Sony footage. My issue is that once I use Catalyst Browse to stabilize the footage and then take it into FCPX, voice isolation no longer shows up–I can’t seem to access it.
So I tried taking it into FCPX first and using the voice isolation, exporting it to the desktop, and then bringing it into Catalyst Browse. But it appears that the gyroscopic data that Catalyst uses to stabilize is removed or somehow altered enough that Catalyst no longer offers stabilization for the clip.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue and found a solution?
Thanks for any assistance…

February 16, 2023 at 10:30 pmNot sure what you mean that you can “access” the Voice isolation after reimporting, but you could make compound clip of the original footage with the good audio, and the video for the stabilized footage from catalyst and have the best of both worlds, but there’s also, Gyroflow and Gyroflow toolbox.
With Gyroflow and Gyroflow toolbox, you can get the gyro information in to FCPX. There are some limitations (like having to stabilize the whole clip in a compound, and then use the compound in the edit) but it’s the next best thing than using clips from Catalyst.
