this one got me for awhile…plug in Zoom H1 mic (set 41k WAV) , run thought the FCPX V/O tool and I find that the resulting file on 48k timeline is now 48k? should be 41k.
    So runs at higher pitch?

Ok, so can do a workaround by a bit of custom retiming math, 41 to 48 = 91.875% and turn OFF pitch retain.

Then lightbulb moment, plugged H1 back in, opened audio midi app and found I could toggle the H1 output to 41k…
ah joy its working fine in FCPX now.

Never had that before?..maybe its a ElCapitan…Sierra..High Sierra thing and I didn’t spot it?

I am surprised at 41 kHz from the zoom. I thought the two standards were 48 kHz for voice over and 44 for music such as CD’s. 24 bit 48 kHz seems to be the most common for good quality audio for video.
