    Hi..

I edited a short film in FCPX 10.03 a few weeks ago, but now i need to re-edit and tweak some things.

However, when I try to open the project file it says:

The document “CurrentVersion1 color-credits.fcpproject” could not be opened. Resource temporarily unavailable

It lets me open up previous versions of my project but not the final version that i need to tweak.. This is a massive problem, can anyone tell me how to fix this? A few weeks ago I was running the project off a different external drive, but i dont think thats the issue, i have managed to re-link the events no problem.

I have tried trashing preferences files, repairing permissions & opening up my own backups but to no avail, i still get the same message..

someone, please help, its driving me mad!

Can you move the Project/Events on a different drive or local drive?
Make sure you disconnect the drive the original data resides in.
Ive had this problem where it gets confused since I tend to move data around across 5 drives here and there.
    Some even duplicated.
    Yep playing with fire 😛

Two things I need to clarify :

Why is your project file named “CurrentVersion1 color-credits.fcpproject” ?
All my project files are named exactly the same “CurrentVersion.fcpproject”.
Did you rename it yourself ? If so, you can try to re-atttribute the right name that fcpx is actually expecting.

Second thing, just to be sure: when you say that you’re trying to open your project, it’s not by double-clicking on it, but from FCPX project windows, right ?

wow.. that worked! so obvious, can’t believe I’m such an idiot, duh!

yes, I’ve been duplicating and renaming the project files as i go along so i can always go backwards if i need to, because in FCPX you can’t seem to have multiple sequences or save each project stage as you go along [ie. in FCP7 i would name my project 1a, 1b, 1c, etc as the editing process proceeds]

re: the second thing, the project files wouldn’t even show up in the project window. does now though.

thanks a lot mate , you’ve really made my day! now i can re-edit this film and make it shine!

You can duplicate a project at anytime with any name if you wish.

I’m a new FCPX user and I’m trying to open an .fcpproject file inside of FCPX. For some reason, I keep getting stuck – please help!
