I’m editing a video project for work, and I’m having trouble importing the video files to FCPX.

I’ve already done this on my MacBook Pro with no problem and it was only a little choppy because of the RAM on the MacBook. At work we have an iMac computer with a terabyte of space so it shouldn’t be a problem. However NOW when I try to import the files, it adds the audio but not the video. HELP?

I even moved to Premiere and got the same issue: audio but NO video.

What camera is the video from? Is the iMac running the same version of OSX and FCP X 10.2.2?

It’s a Sony MOVCAM 3032702, but I just found out that I need the 10.2.2 version of Final Cut Pro X, which is only available via the updated version of OS X…which for some reason is NOT available for this iMac..

Movcam is the name of a brand of camera supports. Part #3032702 is a baseplate for the Sony FS7, which records in Sony’s XAVC format. If that’s the camera, you’re right – you will need FCPX 10.2.2 to handle XAVC video clips.

Would you happen to know how to update the OS X when it says you can’t?

The iMac has to meet System Requirements to upgrade to the latest OSX.
