  • FCP6.01 edit to tape writing to video “2 hours”

I am having the worst FCP issues I have even seen (and I’ve been using since 1.0), on a clients machine. Lost renders (does the update help with this? ) and on edit to tape, (30 minute program- uncompressed 1080i) the edit to tape says it needs to write video for 1-2 hours.

Any thoughts? I have deleated preferences many times.

We also seem to be getting a very slow autosave at times.

    It’s a bug.

It is supposedly fixed in 6.0.2.

Also any layers or clips you have Hidden or turned off in your timeline will have to be “rendered” when you ETT. Even though the clip has no bearing on your output, FCP spends time “rendering” it.

I love to keep a strand of the rough cut on a high video layer, turned off, for reference. little did I know that was causing enormous renders at ETT. I thought FCP was doing a a mixdown or something. Now ETT is nearly instant.
