I’ve searched COW regarding this, and perhaps this is just simply a bug, and I should only use the FC6 Rename function in smaller batches, but here goes anyway..

After laboriously going through my captured reel’s last night and giving each clip a proper name based on the slate info eg EP2_19_1_1_A and then selecting all the clips and doing a “rename file to match clip”, I have opened my project today to find a whole bunch of missing connections.

A small heart attack as I’d gone into my capture scratch after to check they had all renamed correctly.

What I find really strange, is when I select a clip to reconnect, it’s still in the browser as what I changed it to (like the above eg) and it still is in the capture scratch – so i don’t know why the connection was lost.

Stranger still – the file name that it asks me to find when I reconnect is it’s name before it was changed.

To try and make this sound clearer…

The file was captured as B
I renamed the clip in the browser from B to A.
I used the rename file to match clip function to change the file to A

And now – the file and clip are both named A, but it’s asking me to find B

    confused? I am.

    please help!

    Cheers

    Hugh
