    Hey everyone.

So I’ve got two absolutely identical Mac Pros here with FCP6. One of them is giving me a heck of a time with Firewire. Earlier I was having issues outputing video to my VTR, and with seek time on a Firewire HDD.

I suspected the cable to my P2 reader was the issue and when I unplugged it, the problems immediately went away. Having thought I had things traced to a bad 800 cable that was slowing everything else down, I now have a colleague trying to capture today and he continues to encounter dropped frames at random intervals.

Any advice or ideas? I’d like to try everything I can before I start knocking on Apple’s door.

    Thanks!

    FYI:

Mac Pro 2x 2.8 Quad Xeon
    OS 10.5.6
    FCP 6.0.5

    VTR: Panasonic AJ-SD255

SO you have a firewire HDD, a Panasnoic p2 reader and a firewire deck all on the same bus?

Only during one occasion. The HDD was actually what allowed me to diagnose the issue. Now there is only the reader and the VTR. Today only the VTR. The issue is present regardless.
