  • FCP5.1 / Decklink Extreme / Mackie 1402VLZ_Pro …No sound

Im currently running FCP 5.1.2 with the Decklink Extreme card from Blackmagic, and a Mackie 1402-VLZPro Mixer. Im getting sound from my booth into the Mackie board, but not from the board into FCP. However, when we first installed and tested it a few months back, it worked fine. I checked all my audio settings in FCP, Blackmagick Control board, and in System Prefs, they all are set to Decklink in. I’ have also switched the cables around numerous times, and still nothing. My only thing now that im curious about is the FCP 5.1.2 update that I installed about a month back may have set something off, otherwise It may be a Decklink update that I need? Any help I would sure appreciate!

    Thanks,
    Justin

I think you might need a stable video signal on your Decklink video inputs to get audio working. The card won’t accept audio on it’s own, at least it was that way a while back, I haven’t used the Extreme cards in a while.

Just hook up a black reference or any video source, like a deck or camera, to the video inputs, de-select video in your clip settings in log&capture, and I think you’ll be fine.
