  • FCP5 Multicam on a dual 1GB G4?

Posted by Michael Rothenberg on September 19, 2005 at 7:55 pm

I’m a few weeks away from upgrading to a full G5-based HD capable system.

In the meantime, I have a multicam project and would like to use my 10.3.9 dual 1 gig G4 w/ 1.5 GB of RAM to do multicam in a DV project. Will FCP5 run decently on my machine, and will it do multicam playback in RT? I have a RAID.

    TIA –

    Michael

I personally am running FCP 5 on a dual 867 G4 with 2g of RAM and haven’t had any problems with running the software. Only issues have been with multi-cam and the Panasonic DVX100a timecode not matching what it should. (You’d have to see it to believe it)–though I think it may have something to do with the 24p functionality of the camera, or some of our shooters messing with some settings :)….. Regardless, in asnwer to your question, on my end, everything works like it should. (I better not of jinxed me….
