I’ve got a Sony HDV camera and I’m trying to compress some shots that I loaded into FCP5 down to quicktime movies (Sorenson 3 codec) using CM3.1.2. The movies turn out stuttering, one frame forward, two frames back, 3 frames forward etc. I’ve exported the files out of FCP5 as QT reference movies and also tried the original HDV quicktime but the same thing happens. I assume it has to do with the MPEG compression of HDV but how can I compress smooth playing quicktimes from HDV? Any suggestions?

Sounds like you’ve flagged the field order wrong in the deinterlace field. Try switching from/to upper/lower.

I honestly haven’t tested HDV with CM 3.1.2 yet, so I’m not sure what caveats there are for it.
